Intuit Assist is an AI assistant built directly into QuickBooks Online that helps with a range of everyday bookkeeping tasks. It automatically categorizes transactions, assists with bank reconciliations, and lets users ask questions in natural language and get financial reports in response. It’s an add-on designed to make data analysis accessible even to users who aren’t bookkeeping experts.

The main target is small and mid-size business owners and bookkeepers already working on QuickBooks who want to save time on their day-to-day work with the system. According to Intuit, the vast majority of accountants and bookkeepers surveyed had already used some AI tool in their client work, reflecting broad adoption of the technology in the field. The key advantage is that the capability is included within the existing subscription and doesn’t require an additional payment.

On the other hand, the tool is entirely limited to the QuickBooks environment, so businesses that don’t use it won’t benefit from it at all. As with any tool based on natural language, it’s important to verify the accuracy of the system’s answers on complex questions and not rely on them blindly for financial decisions. Also, because the capabilities are continuously updated by Intuit, the user experience may change from time to time without the firm itself having control over it.
